My name is Marielin Simons and currently I am studying Visual Arts on Academy Minerva Groningen. I was born in The Hague and grew up in Eesergroen, a small and calm village in Drenthe. This is where my love for nature came to be and the joy I experienced there became a very important part of my work.

The Forest is a place which has a mysterious and narrative    character. Changing lightbeams, seasons and atmospheres can tell so many different stories about one single place in a landscape. Maybe an atmosphere you recognize from your childhood, your secret and dark spot where you can free your imagination en fantasies.

It is a challenge for me to capture my sensory experiences, and share them with other people.

I like to play with real and imitated landscapes in which I try to connect the modern world and the aesthetic historical world, to connect adults and children and to connect narratives and reality.
